So I was lucky enough to have a chance to see Young Frankenstein at the Pantages this week. It was fantastic!! It was kinda spur of the moment since I only found out that I was going on Sunday, but it was definitely worth it. I got to eat at the adjacent Irish pub, Dillons with one of my closest friends, grab a beer, then head over to the most gorgeous 1930's Art Deco theaters ever!! I feel that the theater was very appropriate since it was built in 1930 and the play takes place in 1933.
For those that don't know, Young Frankenstein was a Mel Brooks movie from the 70s starring Gene Wilder as Dr. Frederick Frankenstein that parodied Mary Shelley's original novel, Frankenstein. It is a hilarious movie and adding music and making it a live production is one of the best things to happen to it since it came out! I must warn the young 'uns though...it is definitely not meant for kids! I mean, some of the jokes are pretty base...and that was always what was so great about it!
Also, the actors were fantastic and the songs were hilarious. The costumes were gorgeous!! It really made me want to put my hair in pin curls and dress in luxurious silks!!
I guess I just love comedies...what can I say. My hands and arms hurt from clapping at the end!
