DanceDanceRevolution....PS3 Mix?! FINALLY!!!!!

So tonight, I am heading up to Culver City for the release party held by Konami for the new DDR for the PS3!!!  So exciting!  It is being held at the Royal/T Cafe in Culver City and it is apparently sold out.  Thank goodness for "like"ing Konami on Facebook, otherwise, I never would have gotten the invite.  Apparently, they are going to have an exhibition and Naoki is going to be the DJ!!!!!  YAY!!!!! I will blog about it tomorrow (if all goes well) and hopefully have some rockin' pictures to post about the event!!!

The Royal/T Cafe is kinda neat, I have been there before, but I didn't really feel comfortable.  It is supposed to be similar to a maid cafe in Japan, but it is more hipster/trendy than anything else...slightly unfortunate.  Still excited though!!!

The Day-To-Day

Ugh, it has been a while since I have done anything extraordinary! Work has been pretty busy. I had three reports due on one day….and I happened to be in the field that day, of course. It drives me crazy sometimes, but it means that once those reports go out, I am on the light side when it comes to workload, thank goodness!!

This past weekend was a good time, after I got out of work SUPER late of Friday night.  On Saturday, we got to hang out at the beach with some of the Psychotaku's wrestling buddies, only got a little burned!  Then we went to a BBQ at their place and played Twister, hilariously enough!  Super good times!  On Sunday, I hurt so bad from frolicking in the ocean and walking all over the place!  I really need to get out more!  Anyway, I went out to San Bernardino for a Housewarming at my closest friend's new house.  I had a great time out there!!  Got some vodka and rum and made a party out of it!!  :P  Also, her place is HUGE!!  Four bedrooms, three bathrooms, and a HUGE kitchen!!!  CRAZY!!!  I don't think that I could ever afford anything like that out here in Redondo Beach...I am pretty sure those kinda places go for about $1M.  UGH!  Stupid house prices!!!

Looks like the Psychotaku should be posting the panel video from Anime Expo sometime this week! So keep checking back!!

Thanks for the support!

Young Frankenstein! That’s Fronk-en-steen!!!

So I was lucky enough to have a chance to see Young Frankenstein at the Pantages this week.  It was fantastic!!  It was kinda spur of the moment since I only found out that I was going on Sunday, but it was definitely worth it.  I got to eat at the adjacent Irish pub, Dillons with one of my closest friends, grab a beer, then head over to the most gorgeous 1930's Art Deco theaters ever!! I feel that the theater was very appropriate since it was built in 1930 and the play takes place in 1933.

For those that don't know, Young Frankenstein was a Mel Brooks movie from the 70s starring Gene Wilder as Dr. Frederick Frankenstein that parodied Mary Shelley's original novel, Frankenstein.  It is a hilarious movie and adding music and making it a live production is one of the best things to happen to it since it came out!  I must warn the young 'uns is definitely not meant for kids!  I mean, some of the jokes are pretty base...and that was always what was so great about it!

Also, the actors were fantastic and the songs were hilarious.  The costumes were gorgeous!! It really made me want to put my hair in pin curls and dress in luxurious silks!!

I guess I just love comedies...what can I say.  My hands and arms hurt from clapping at the end!

Dammit Jim, I'm a geologist, not an actor!!!

Well, we finally did it!  I have my own show!!  Well, at least all of the scenes are "in the can", as the Psychotaku says.  It still needs to be edited and have all of the other shots seamlessly sewn into it.  I can't wait to see what the show looks like when it is done...and I don't even have a name for it yet!

It was a lot of fun and hard work on Saturday and we even had a voice-acting director helping us out!!  If this show gets a second episode, I hope all of the shoots are as fun as this one!  That being said, I really don't know how the Psychotaku stays so energetic during his show!!  I mean, he isn't even speaking English.  I know that I would have huge issues if I couldn't work the script around to make it sound more natural during the shoot.  Plus, I would never remember all of those lines!!!  I know that the Psychotaku does get very frustrated at times when a line isn't going the way he wants it too.   That is why we have the director there.  He knows when people need to just take a break and chill out for a minute to gather themselves for the next shot.  He is very helpful and we need all of the help we can get!!

Anyway, I hope everyone is as excited about this show as I am!!  It was a lot of fun and hard work and I hope that everyone likes it!!  So keep checking for my show!!!

PS Thanks to everyone who helped us out this weekend!!  We couldn't have done it without you!

"Implanting Ideas and Making People Think They Thought of It" or "Inception"

Generally, I am not a drama movie kind of person, but for some reason, the last two Leonardo DiCaprio movies (namely Shutter Island and Inception) have peaked my interest.  Shutter Island I will probably never see because it looks...well, to put it bluntly...scary!!! And I am a wuss.  Though since my only forays into horror have been The Ring and Ju-On, I think that I am ok being a scaredy cat (no pun intended, NYU!!) since I like my sleep and I don't like seeing stringy-haired little girls at the end of my bed...*chills*.  Ugh, enough of that thinking.

Anyway, Inception seemed safe enough so on Friday, the Psychotaku and I headed out to our local AMC for the early morning $6 ticket deal to see it.  First off, I get bored pretty quickly and the movie starts out pretty slow so I wasn't too impressed.  Though I realize that it is a suspense story, I just can't stay interested when the ENTIRE movie is suspense...I need little checkpoints throughout to keep me on the edge of my seat, I guess.  I also got sick of the Leo story arc with his wife.  Otherwise, the acting was fantastic and the special effects and "worlds" that were created were pretty awesome.  The ending was pretty neat too, though I kind of figured out what was going to happen without the crazy ending.  Having the story be about dream worlds was a new twist on movies and I think Christopher Nolan did a great job with the storytelling.

My favorite scene is a fight scene in a hotel involving Joseph Gordon-Levitt.  The spinning hallway was genius and it was very cool to watch.

And I also love how Ellen Page and Leo interact in the movie...not romantically like you would think, but they are very good together.

One of the silliest things about the end of the movie was that people in our theater decided that the "real" ending must be after the credits, but I don't know why they would spoil an ending like that by giving people "closure"...sorry, trying not to spoil the ending is really tough!!

All in all, this is a great movie if you like suspense/dramas, but for a comedy person like me, it was kind of slow and almost TOO suspenseful though it did have me on the edge of my seat at times (including the ending, luckily enough).  I feel kind of bad since I didn't fully love it like the Psychotaku did, but I guess my crazy personality doesn't really let me enjoy suspenseful movies like that.  Ah well... I guess I am just a funny movie kinda gal!! ;)
